How does one pronounce Usopp? (One Piece)?

My friend told me that the correct pronunciation sounds like Ussoppu or something like that. But at the same time she pronounces Shanks, Shanks instead of Shankusu. I understand the idea of a U being added to a word in japanese that doesn't have a vowel nor an N but can i pronounce it Usopp?
