Alternate spellings or not?

My name is Emalee. I like the way it spelled because I have never met anyone with there name spelled like that. I haven't had "a life time of correcting people" like so many people out there promise. (Sure I have to correct people but not like 2000 times a day maybe 6 times a year.) It doesn't affect the pronunciation of my name and I personally don't think it looks "trashy". My daughters names are Madisyn and Camerin and they haven't had "a horrible life of correcting people" either. So what is the big deal about alternate spellings?
